In my day, there was no such thing as Proquest. We barely even had an Internet, and it was run on campus by a giant gerbil wheel that Graham Spanier would run around each day. (That's why he was kept on such a high-carb diet in the mid-'90s.) Actually, for research, we mostly just had to go to the library.
